Liposuction is a fat removal surgery that can be used to target specific and different areas of your body. It is possible to have either a full body liposuction or partial liposuction for such areas as: back, arms, chest, abdomen, hip, legs, buttocks, knees or ankles. Liposuction can be also combined with other surgeries to have better results. As the statistics say, liposuction and tummy tuck is the most popular combination among people who want to have a flat stomach.

Liposuction consists of aspirating fat from a body part with the use of a special cannula connected to a vacuum machine. Fat removal surgery is carried out under general anaesthesia and takes one to two hours depending on the liposuction technique that is used.

What can liposuction achieve?
It can be difficult to get rid of certain areas of body fat despite our best efforts at exercising and dieting. Liposuction is a procedure that can help contour these areas by:

Removing excess stubborn fat
Contouring parts of the body to create a more shapely figure
Making the overall appearance of the body more proportionate

Liposuction Techniques
Taking advantage from the latest technologies, liposuction in Turkey offers a great variety of options. Although all of them aims at fat removal, each technique functions differently from one another. There are mainly three liposuction techniques

Traditional Liposuction: The technique consists of fat removal from the body by means of its aspiration with fine cannulas that are inserted under the skin through small incisions of 2-3 millimetres. Traditional liposuction in Turkey is mostly preferred when the candidate has a significant amount of fat or seek for a cheap liposuction.
Vaser Liposuction: It is a quick and less-traumatic liposuction technique that facilitates fat removal by selectively acting on the fatty tissue and making it liquid through ultrasound waves. By this way, it provides more natural liposuction results that can hardly be obtained in such a short time with other surgical procedures.
Vaser Hi-def (High Definition) Liposuction: It is a liposculpture system using ultrasound waves together with resonance. This allows the surgeon to remove fat while sculpting certain areas of the body, working on the patient’s own anatomy, discovering his muscles. As it is especially effective in belly fat removal and definition, Hi-Def Liposuction in Turkey is mostly preferred by men as a six-pack surgery.

Frequently Asked Questions

+ How long does the liposuction surgery take?
The liposuction procedure can take between 1 to 4 hours depending on the extent of the procedure.

+ Does liposuction leave scars?
There will be small incision lines on your treated areas where the cannula enters into your body. The scars will heal gradually and there will be no visible lines or incisions on your body.

+ What are the steps of a liposuction procedure ?
The liposuction procedure includes the following steps:

Step 1 – Anesthesia
Medications are administered for your comfort during the surgical procedure. The choices include local anesthesia, intravenous sedation and general anesthesia. Your doctor will recommend the best choice for you.

Step 2 – The incision
Liposuction is performed through small, inconspicuous incisions. First, diluted local anesthesia is infused to reduce bleeding and trauma. Then a thin hollow tube, or cannula, is inserted through the incisions to loosen excess fat using a controlled back and forth motion. The dislodged fat is then suctioned out of the body using a surgical vacuum or syringe attached to the cannula.

Step 3 – See the results
Your improved body contour will be apparent once the swelling and fluid retention commonly experienced following liposuction subside.

+ How much fat can be removed during liposuction?
Your surgeon can safely remove up to 5 liters (10 pounds) of fat during a liposuction.

+ Am I too big to have liposuction?
It is important to understand that liposuction is not a type of weight loss surgery. Removing too much excess fat through liposuction for weight loss purposes can lead to serious complications. The aim of a liposuction is to remove stubborn fat that exercise and diet alone cannot shift. We therefore strongly recommend that you reach a stable weight before you have liposuction.

+ Is this operation performed in combination with the other plastic surgery operations?
Plastic surgeries such as breast augmentation, nose job, tummy tuck, face lift may be performed in combination with liposuction.
